Artiste multiple, Alima Hamel cultive l'écriture, en français et en arabe. Poétesse reconnue et traduite récemment aux Etats-Unis, elle a pratiqué l'improvisation au sein du groupe Monkomarok de 2000 à 2008. 3 albums en sont issus (Enja / Harmonia Mundi) ainsi que de très nombreux concerts en France et à l'étranger via Culture France et l’AFAA.
En 2009, elle rencontre le guitariste Lone Kent à qui elle propose une collaboration qui durera 3 ans, ils créent un duo de blues algérien, jouent abondamment dans l’hexagone et obtiennent une présélection aux Printemps de Bourges en 2010.
En 2013 Alima continue d’écrire son aventure au sein de différents projets, accompagnée de musiciens tels que Loïc Schild (batteur de Monkomarok), Antoine Paulin à la guitare, William Laudinat (trompette)...
En 2019 elle créé la pièce Medea Mountains, un spectacle de théâtre mis en scène par le scénographe et metteur en scène Aurélien Bory, pris en charge par la Compagnie 111, dans lequel Alima nous livre son histoire familiale.

Le 24 février 2023, l'ouvrage Medea Mountains et autres titres est publié aux éditions l’Oeil d’Or/Paris, une évolution de son spectacle éponyme. Medea Mountains est le récit d’une décision, celle d’une mère qui abandonne une à une ses filles en Algérie, à Médéa. En livrant ce témoignage, Alima contribue à cet effort de mémoire d’une grande importance.

Ce projet naît d’une question : quels sont les effets d’une langue maternelle sur le corps ? Alima Hamel et Jehane Hamm s'allient dans une posture de réflexion autour de cette notion grâce à l'expérimentation et l’improvisation. Elles se rencontrent dans ce qui les rassemble et les lie autour de la langue algérienne, au travers de leurs médiums respectifs : la voix et le corps. C’est une rencontre, un dialogue, une recherche qui se construit entre les deux artistes. De nombreuses résidences sont prévues entre 2023 et 2024. Création le 25 mai 2024 au Théâtre Molière de Sète.
Alima propose également aux publics de nombreux ateliers : écriture, chant ou improvisation.

Multiple artist, Alima Hamel cultivates writing, in French and Arabic. Renowned poet and recently translated in the United States, she practiced improvisation within the group Monkomarok from 2000 to 2008. 3 albums are released (Enja / Harmonia Mundi) as well as many concerts in France and abroad via Culture France and the AFAA.
In 2009, she met guitarist Lone Kent to whom she proposed a collaboration that would last 3 years, they created an Algerian blues duo, play extensively in France and obtain a preselection at the Printemps de Bourges in 2010.
In 2013 Alima continues to write her adventure within different projects, accompanied by musicians such as Loïc Schild (drummer of Monkomarok), Antoine Paulin on guitar, William Laudinat (trumpet)...
In 2019 she created the play Medea Mountains, a theater show staged by the scenographer and director Aurélien Bory, supported by Compagnie 111, in which Alima tells us her family story.

The 24th of February 2023, the book Medea Mountains and other titles is published by Editions l'Oeil d'Or/Paris, an evolution of its eponymous show. Medea Mountains is the story of a decision, that of a mother who abandons one by one her daughters in Algeria, in Médéa. By delivering this testimony, Alima contributes to this important effort of remembrance.

This project is born from a question: what are the effects of a mother tongue on the body? Alima Hamel and Jehane Hamm join forces to reflect on this notion through experimentation and improvisation. They meet in what brings them together and binds them around the Algerian language, through their respective mediums: voice and body. It is an encounter, a dialogue, a research that is being built between the two artists. Numerous residencies are planned between 2023 and 2024. Creation on May 25, 2024 at the Théâtre Molière in Sète.
Alima also offers numerous workshops to audiences: writing, singing, or improvisation.
