Bien plus qu'une électro-pop radieuse infusée de culture japonaise, FANEL refuse de choisir entre son background indie électro pop européen et son amour pour la musique et culture traditionnelle nippone. Ce dialogue perpétuel, ce syncrétisme entre extrême technologie et traditions, FANEL l'injecte dans sa musique par la fusion de beats et textures électro, et d'instruments organiques traditionnels d'Europe et d'Asie créant des paysages sonores uniques. Elle s'amuse avec les langues, leur rythmes et leurs sonorités en chantant en Anglais, Japonais et parfois en Français.

Suite à un 1er EP The Mirror sorti en avril 2014, avec la participation de Nina Goern (CATS ON TREES) au piano, FANEL dévoile en octobre 2015 un premier clip d’animation réalisé en Stop Motion The Monkey Song. Le groupe est retenu pour les auditions régionales des iNOUïS du Printemps de Bourges en 2015 et bénéficie du dispositif AA du réseau Avant-Mardi (31) ainsi que de l’accompagnement conventionné de la SMAC Lo Bolegason (81).

Avec quelques belles premières parties (CATS ON TREES, AARON, LILLYWOOD AND THE PRICK, GENERAL ELEKTRIKS, MINA TINDLE) à son actif, le trio scénique est reparti en studio en décembre 2015.

En avril 2016, elle sort un nouvel opus de 4 titres You And I. Sans quitter les sonorités ambiantes et sensibles de The Mirror, ce nouvel EP vient affirmer l’autre facette de FANEL : rafraîchissante, pop et résolument pétillante. Cet EP est marqué par la sortie du clip Océan avec la participation de la danseuse contemporaine Yamada Yuko.

‍You And I, une histoire entre vous et nous, tel un parcours initiatique où l’on croise chaleur et vagues, et où même freinés par le vent, nous atteindrons le sommet de la montagne sacrée.

FANEL crée en 2016 un spectacle jeune public en coproduction avec Le Métronum et la Ville de Toulouse ; une épopée destinée au 5-9 ans.

En 2017, Bérangère Sentex se replonge dans la composition avec pour envie d’affirmer son attachement au Japon et l’identité singulière de ce projet. FANEL a démarré un travail de direction artistique avec Christian Bordarier, conseiller à la salle Paloma et ancien directeur artistique chez Wagram Music. Puis, elle lance avec trois autres professionnels de la région Occitanie un label et structure de développement de projets, YATTA!, ayant pour but le développement des esthétiques pop-world, pour le décloisonnement des styles et le réveil des oreilles curieuses !

En 2019, sort Human, un album composé de 9 titres dont l’un d’eux est retenu par MARVEL pour sa série HIT MONKEYS. 

Après 2 EPs, un album sorti en 2019, plus d’une centaine de concerts en France, Angleterre et Japon, FANEL décide de créer pendant la pandémie un nouveau show appelé THE THIN PLACE. Elle s’associe à Joan TOMAS, photographe et vidéaste Barcelonais, pour créer un show de vidéo mapping célébrant leur attachement à Okinawa et leur vision de cet archipel au passé difficile, qui sait pourtant rayonner de beauté et de joie. Un show immersif, un voyage, un portail entre deux mondes.

Après plusieurs singles sortis en 2024 (Our Hands in Time et Singularity), elle sort un EP « The Thin Place » en janvier 2025 (disponible ICI) dont deux des titres ont été enregistrés et réalisés avec la participation de Léo Abrahams, un artiste et producteur londonien travaillant notamment avec Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, Regina Spektor...

En ce début d'année 2025, le clip de Singularity a vu le jour !

FANEL propose en solo, depuis 2023, un live électronica dansant et épique. Un one-woman-band qui fait bouger les pieds et voyager l'esprit.

Much more than a radiant electro-pop infused with Japanese culture, FANEL refuses to choose between her European indie electro pop background and her love for traditional Japanese music and culture. This perpetual dialogue, this syncretism between extreme technology and traditions, FANEL injects it into her music through the fusion of beats and electro textures, and organic traditional instruments from Europe and Asia creating unique soundscapes.  She has fun with languages, their rhythms and sounds by singing in English, Japanese, and sometimes in French.

Following a first EP The Mirror released in April 2014, with the participation of Nina Goern (CATS ON TREES) on piano, FANEL unveiled in October 2015 a first animation clip made in Stop Motion The Monkey Song. The group was selected for the regional auditions of the Printemps de Bourges unheard of in 2015 and benefits from the AA system of the Avant-Mardi network (31) as well as from the support provided by the SMAC Lo Bolegason (81).

With some beautiful opening parts (CATS ON TREES, AARON, LILLYWOOD AND THE PRICK, GENERAL ELEKTRIKS, MINA TINDLE) to their credit, the scenic trio went back into the studio in December 2015.

In April 2016, she releases a new 4-track album You And I. Without leaving the ambient and sensitive sounds of The Mirror, this new EP comes to assert the other facet of FANEL: refreshing, pop and resolutely sparkling. This EP is marked by the release of the music video Océan with the participation of contemporary dancer Yamada Yuko.‍

You And I, a story between you and us, like an initiatory journey where we cross heat and waves, and where even slowed down by the wind, we will reach the summit of the sacred mountain.

In 2016, FANEL created a show for young audiences in co-production with Le Métronum and the City of Toulouse; an epic intended for 5-9 year olds.

In 2017, Bérangère Sentex plunged back into composition with the desire to assert her attachment to Japan and the unique identity of this project. FANEL started a work of artistic direction with Christian Bordarier, advisor at the Paloma room and former artistic director at Wagram Music. Then, she launched with three other professionals from the Occitanie region a label and project development structure, YATTA! , with the aim of developing pop-world aesthetics, for decompartmentalizing styles and awakening curious ears!

An immersive show, a journey, a portal between two worlds.

FANEL has been offering a solo dance and epic live electronica since 2023. A one-woman band that moves the feet and takes the mind on a journey.
